CCP Coordinator
TARUNJIT S. BUTALIA, PH.D., P.E. COAL COMBUSTION PRODUCTS COORDINATOR Dr. Tarunjit S. Butalia serves as the program coordinator for the statewide Coal Combustion Products (CCP) Extension program at The Ohio State University. Dr. Butalia is a Research Scientist in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Geodetic Science at The Ohio State University. His technical specialty is the characterization of natural and synthetic materials and their use in technically sound, environmentally benign and commercially competitive applications. The transfer technology project overseen by Dr. Butalia is an effort to move CCP technologies and processes from the research and development phases into the marketplace. When treated and applied correctly, CCPs can be put to multiple productive uses ranging from highway applications, mineland reclamation, to agricultural applications. The CCP Coordinator works to develop and promote standardized practices and procedures acceptable to private sector end users and government regulators, serves as an information center and coordinates, sponsors and presents at seminars and similar events, assesses the markets for CCP uses, and many related activities. Dr. Butalia obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (with Honors) in Civil Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, India. He went on to earn a Master of Technology degree in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India and a Doctorate in Engineering from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio.
