Welcome to CCPOhio! You have accessed the official Internet web page of the Coal Combustion Product (CCP) extension program.

Nearly 90% of Ohio's electricity is produced from the burning of coal, and much of that use generates products, the bulk of which are presently put in nonproductive landfills. These products include fly ash, bottom ash, boiler slag, and flue gas desulfurization (FGD) materials. Ohio generates approximately 10 million tons of CCPs every year. When treated and applied correctly, CCPs can be put to multiple productive uses ranging from highway applications, mineland reclamation to agricultural applications. The statewide CCP extension program is an effort to move coal combustion product utilization technologies and processes from the research and development phases into the marketplace.
